doesnt sound piratey

I think if you swapped the R (i believe its the viola) for a soft piano or something its accent would be heard a bit clearer, because sometimes its difficult to hear whats going on exactly, and unless you specifically meant it to be as it is i recognice a bit of uncertainty around 00:35.

Also, i cant agree with 00:25's transition.
(all about the viola still)

All in all i enjoyed this alot more than i show with this review, so ill 5 you for your talent and ill look trough a bit more of your work.

Oh almost forgot to say what i think it sounds like..

Im typing this as im listening now, i see a bit of nocturne, perhaps old streetlamps, its a bit urban and plebian. :)

Greets.

sarias responds:

unfortunately if you read the description those were the instruments I had to choose. Also remember this is midi, and isn't an accurate representation of the music, but thanks for your review none the less. :)

thingies

i love superu mario 2's music, and before i started listening to this it occured to me that remixes are pretty much easy to do (i was thinking this for myself in the sense of 'maybe i should sometime make some remix of burai fighter deluxe or something) i mean, the composition is there.. you just need to make an interpetation of it.

Anyway, this one by you is quite enjoyable. Ill 5 you one.

Stage3-1 responds:

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. As for the recent remixes I've released, I was pretty much going for a cut and dry cover of the originals with different instruments and tempos. I didn't want to stray too far away from the original. For the next remixes I'm doing, I'll be doing a heavy interpretation. Thanks for the review.

hmm

to much cymbal im afraid and some parts sounded a bit to forced, sorry man. (but maybe its because im listening to it without headphones atm i dont know)

EmperorCharlemagne responds:

not sure what ya mean by forced, but I won't deny I love the cymbal.

good sound, but one problem.

right on the 00:24 it seems to skip a note, and as someone else said i think you should add some retro percussion.

gr. Calamaistr.

btriangle responds:

Thanks bud, Im actually going to totally redo this song for fun, and make it a full song.

oh come on...

This sounds incredibly chaotic at all times, even after listening to it 3 loops in a row..

Sure it has slight potential (at 0.40), but im almost lead to believe you should look for another hobby because its all completely musica falsa.

halfangelfreak responds:

Dear lord, you don't know this is supposed to be completely chaotic? Besides, this was my first composition on paper.

now this is music

it doesnt have to be 'super' it doesnt have to be 'pro' as long as its innovative and take you on a trip trough a story.

merlin responds:

Thanks, thats really what I was going for with this one! I'm glad you liked it. Be sure to check out some of my other songs.

Regards,
merlin

ill need to respond on multiple things here.

First off, i doubt it actually 'earns' the best of all time. Dont get me wrong its a good track, it all sounds right but the piano melody is also extremely ~casual, in my ears basic. Wich is probably wich made this so popular.

However the detail and use of certain soundeffects as a part of the music is very well done. See this review not in the light loaded of this being in the top whatever but just a take on the track as would normally be given even if it had not been up there as im not going to lie.

I do want to know however what piano soundbank you used, im still looking for one thats easily insertable for fl8.

broove responds:

Nr.1 spot - I commented on that enough times + the reason it got so popular is the game - Lint.
Nevertheless, thank you for a great review. I actually don't like sugarcoating much, I'm always waiting for a guy who will tell what's really going on ;)

For this song I used Ivory VST, but watch out - it's heavy.

ive always liked d&b

Imo d&b equals classical music, in the rythmic sense. Alas when done right that is.
I cannot stand most rythmic music for its boring repetition but d&b always keeps your ears guessing.

When that those strings started i was typing the above and thought to myself.. argh.. this doesnt sound right, but then when the grunge synth kicked in again it did makes sense, and thats what i always love in music, when at first you wonder 'does that even fit in?' after wich you are suprised with a harmony changing the atmosphere.

Well done :) Oh and i just noticed you're also dutch, groetjes dus. :p

YouriX responds:

Hey i am glad that you liked! Yeah suprised you there huh? Anyways, ook groetjes ;)

didnt like most of the melody

But the percussion and transits were extremely awesome. Sorry man have to be god honest about my thoughts, hope you dont mind to much since you gave me such a great review. Ill still 5 you though, cause theres alot of effort in this and even though i dont like the main melody it still beats most of the portal.

EmperorCharlemagne responds:

I don't mind truthful reviews in the least, so don't be afraid to say whatcha think. I don't need a whole bunch of quid pro quos in any event.

To be truthful, this didn't entirely translate from my head into FL, and this is pretty much my first foray into this type of music. Ah well.

Thanks for listening!

my take.

Its good, but i feel as it constantly had potential to suddenly go into something awesome melody wise, like a original change of chords into ..well i dont know, yet it never really did.

But as a solid track it fits fine with the game genre, good job.

Box-Killa responds:

:DYeah i agree, thanks for the review
