this is just excellent

Its great relaxation-music, pure atmosphere.
Could be applied to a roleplay adventure game such as baldurs gate np.

The instruments all go very well with eachother and it keeps revolving the theme, grats.

dayday8421 responds:

Hi Calamaistr Yeah the mood is exactly what i was going for. Thanks for the review and glad you enjoyed.

pffff....

look ive gone trough all of your vg tracks and this is the only one i like a bit so here goes:

It is mostly atmospheric the whole time, this is a good thing here no worries.
Loop drags can set a mood when done right and in this track it is done right. Around 1: 22 i get the feeling you didnt know where to go for a moment, anyway.. this is definately a nice track and it makes me ponder why you didnt stick with the style yet in most other works almost abandon melodical quality and instead seem to focus on modern styles wich isnt really what chip and bit instrumentation shines at.

Regards.

BadCommandCo responds:

The accordion still feels like it belongs there and so does the part at 1:22. Also I don't seem to feel any of my music abandons "melodical quality" (melodical isn't a word). I always found this comment difficult to understand or agree with, but everyone perceives things differently.

yep

you're pretty cool now.

You should make more dnb.

Rig responds:

I plan to!

compositionwise could be improved.

3:43 should have started much sooner, there is that B note i hear troughout the whole track coming back constantly wich is starting to make it dull within the first minute already, if you can change that i think it would improve alot, i can hear you make dance music because though the harmony is fine there is nothing exciting going on in the middleground.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Thanks for the review! This was one of my hardest pieces of music to compose.
About the B note, I see what you mean, but it's part of the structure (because the two tenor parts play in a "round" plus the brass is another tenor so they are apt to hit that B often). But it was the reverb that caused that, which I just dumbed down now so it should be better.
Thanx for listening!

i remember playing that game

i dont remember this track that much though, but im trusting you. And its not bad anyway, and since someone said you were bombed im going to five you for the heck of it.

Ventovieras responds:

Thank you! I hope you remember Batman Nes game a little, its great! And thank you for defending me! :)

not great everywhere

Sadly the harmonies at the 1:00 part dont sound right, also its a bit bland on the melody. But i 'can hear you have potential, im sure if you sit down and try to make something truly original (compositionwise, you need suprise in music especially music based on an era where you had to suprise to be noticed as the instruments were all improvised, the progressions of this piece are much to predictable) you are going to have easy 10s and 5s for me.

But im happy there are more bit composers on ng now. :)

Coffee-Break responds:

Thanks for your review.
I have sent you PM with a proper response. :-)

Excellent!

I hardly ever give 10's but this track does deserve one, its a beautiful harmony between two instruments my friend. I loved every part of it so ill add this one to my favorites.

i would like to hear more like this from you :)

sarias responds:

why thank you lol I spent a lot of time on this one, and my university (ASU) didn't like it very much because its too conservative, but if it would have been written 150 years ago it would be fine lol gotta hate modern music thanks for the review

doesnt sound piratey

I think if you swapped the R (i believe its the viola) for a soft piano or something its accent would be heard a bit clearer, because sometimes its difficult to hear whats going on exactly, and unless you specifically meant it to be as it is i recognice a bit of uncertainty around 00:35.

Also, i cant agree with 00:25's transition.
(all about the viola still)

All in all i enjoyed this alot more than i show with this review, so ill 5 you for your talent and ill look trough a bit more of your work.

Oh almost forgot to say what i think it sounds like..

Im typing this as im listening now, i see a bit of nocturne, perhaps old streetlamps, its a bit urban and plebian. :)

Greets.

sarias responds:

unfortunately if you read the description those were the instruments I had to choose. Also remember this is midi, and isn't an accurate representation of the music, but thanks for your review none the less. :)

thingies

i love superu mario 2's music, and before i started listening to this it occured to me that remixes are pretty much easy to do (i was thinking this for myself in the sense of 'maybe i should sometime make some remix of burai fighter deluxe or something) i mean, the composition is there.. you just need to make an interpetation of it.

Anyway, this one by you is quite enjoyable. Ill 5 you one.

Stage3-1 responds:

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. As for the recent remixes I've released, I was pretty much going for a cut and dry cover of the originals with different instruments and tempos. I didn't want to stray too far away from the original. For the next remixes I'm doing, I'll be doing a heavy interpretation. Thanks for the review.

hmm

to much cymbal im afraid and some parts sounded a bit to forced, sorry man. (but maybe its because im listening to it without headphones atm i dont know)

EmperorCharlemagne responds:

not sure what ya mean by forced, but I won't deny I love the cymbal.
