no wonder you rate actual game music low.

im still going to be fair here and tell you why i give you a low score.
This has nothing to do with your additute, but it did explain it.

Youre not using accurate instrumentation, infact this is obviously 32 bit. It also has an overkill of reverb, a gameboy would never be able to emitt a sound like this..

regards -cal.

WerewNC responds:

Hey, thanks a ton, dude! I'm in this competition for the learning experience, and by my own admission this is a mediocre song.

I'm new to composing video game music. All I've used for sounds before is soundfonts, and it's hard to find good ones that are free for public use. Your review caused me to come across a program called LMMS that makes a great intermediate step from MuseScore to Audacity for me and has some good, free Game Boy sounds to boot!

woah

this was in my bookmark list of 50 years ago or something (when i still had another account due to only making poor stick flash) this is pretty nice, makes me think of mozart composing while hes asleep or something :)

Like im listening to a CD.

Instruments all portray realistically (wich in my book is never necaserry but awesome when it works)

There is fitting tensions, it all just sounds enjoyable.

in dutch we say 'de kracht van zacht' equal to the power of soft volume.
It works. This proves it.

Its a bit like legend of dragoon music in a way.

EmperorCharlemagne responds:

Legend of Dragoon music? Aw, you flatter me!

Sometimes you have to step back from making loud bombastic pieces and try for more subtlety. I mean, not like this piece is oozing subtlety, but back when I made it it was fun to mess around with the synths and effects and whatnot. Glad you liked it! I'll try to look through some of your stuff and review them soon (I listened to a lot, but didn't get a chance to review).

If i were still smoking pot.

RetromanOMG responds:

Yeah, because of the problems I was having with my headphone, I just tried to get it done as possible.

I might revisit this track, though.
